You may have come across my brother, Jordan Bishop, on your internet exploration or travel research. He is the founder of Yore Oyster and How I Travel, two projects inspired by his recent love of travel, nomadic living and running a digital business. As a fellow entrepreneur (seems to run in the family) and self-proclaimed generalist he decided to create the logo himself but realized his end result didn't portray the identity he desired.
He then asked me for help, providing guidelines of what he wanted the logo to represent and I took on the redesign.
The end result; a bold, meaningful and beautiful logo. I was able to create this revised logo within an hour because of the succinct and focused design direction Jordan had already worked so hard to create. The white space I incorporated into the H creates the visual of both an "H" and and "I" which completed Jordan's criteria of designing a logo that focused on "How I" as he hopes to utilize the same logo for future spin off projects such as How I Write and How I Shoot.
The logo is now more bold, it's clean lines work well on dark or light backgrounds and the H is now a perfect standalone icon- perfect for social media branding & small scale images like the web favicon.
Jordan, who got all the creative writing genes in the family, wrote a great post about his attempted design followed by his decision to hire me on his blog - it offers transparency in the design process for anyone who wants go behind the scenes.
